When did you start growing food and why did you become involved with Growing Neighbors?
We’ve been involved in gardening at various points of our life, but got into contact with Johnny and Growing Neighbors through Whitworth University and their Office of Church Engagement! That was something like 2 years ago. . .
What do you like to grow?
We love growing tomatoes. They’re good luck since they don’t require a lot of work! We just kinda stick them in the ground, water them, and see what happens!
What is your favorite dish to cook from your fresh produce/garden goods?
We like making scrambles with all of the various veggies, but last year my husband was able to can a lot of marinara sauce from our tomatoes- that was really good.
Who else is involved in the farmyard & related neighbor connections (i.e. friends, family, neighbors)?
We’ve had some family members help out, and we’ve definitely been sharing our zucchini with neighbors, but there’s hasn’t been a lot of opportunity with Covid being what it is.
Would you like to have neighbors contact you to help out or to harvest and enjoy the produce?
We always have excess tomatoes, grapes, and cucumbers so feel free to contact us.
