When did you start growing food and why did you become involved with Growing Neighbors?
I’ve been growing on and off for years with varying degrees of success. However, this year it was a goal for me to try and feed my family with some of the produce that we grew, as well as to share with others. I also started a small community school with my kids and some of their peers from our homeschool connect program. A large component of our time was to learn more about food, how to grow food, to learn about our world, do a service project, and to cook and eat together. I love to share growing with my neighbors, friends, and family. I love and fully embrace the vision of Growing Neighbors and am excited to continue connecting with others.
What do you like to grow?
The kids have helped plant “The Three Sisters” crops – that being corn, beans, and squash, which all like to grow together. We also have different berry bushes, and pumpkins.
